The power button is the control hub for your Ampler e-bike. Depending on which Generation of Ampler bike you are riding, the controls slightly differ, but the core functions of your power button are the same.

With the power button, you can:

  • Turn the bike on and off
  • Switch between the assistance modes
  • Switch the lights on and off
Generation 2 models

Our Generation 2 models are operated via the power button underneath the display.
The display shows different states. Once you make a selection via the button, it confirms your input via symbols. 

All display symbols are explained in this article.

Turn the bike on and off

When you turn on your Ampler for the first time, the charger has to be connected to the bike in order to activate it from shutdown mode. Then you can turn it on:

  1. Briefly press the power button 1x.
  2. The display shows the Ampler logo shortly.
  3. The display then shows the active state.
  4. Bike is on.

Repeat the process to switch the bike off. It will switch itself off after ~2.5 minutes if you do not move it.

  1. Briefly press the power button 1x.
  2. The display shows .
  3. Bike is off.

Switch between the assistance modes

If the display is off, it can be “woken up” by a short press on the power button. We recommend to not do this while riding.

The display shows the active state.

  1. Shortly press the power button to cycle between modes.
  2. Select the desired mode. The symbol will be shown for approx. 2 seconds and the mode is set.

for standard mode, for max mode,  for 0% assistance mode (motor support is off).

The bike always remembers the last selected mode.

Switching the lights on and off

The display shows the active state.

  1. Press and hold the power button shortly.
  2. The display shows ⁣ – just keep pressing.
  3. The display then shows  for approx. 2 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. The light switches on.

Repeat the process to switch the lights off.

  1. Press and hold the power button.
  2. The display shows ⁣ – just keep pressing.
  3. The display shows  for approx. 2 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. The light switches off.

The bike always remembers the last selected mode.

If you want to ride with lights on but without motor support, turn the lights on and select 0% assistance mode.

You can also toggle all of these settings in the app.

Generation 1 models
We ask you to fully dismount from the bike to operate the button. Do not use the button while riding. If you have a bike with an older firmware, please also note the dangers of accidentally starting the factory reset.

You can recognise the state of charge via the power button LED colours.

With the power button you can:

Turn the bike on and off

Bike is off

  1. 1x short press
  2. Bike is on

Repeat the process to switch the bike off. It will switch itself off after 5 minutes if you do not move it.

Switch between the assistance modes

Mode 1 (Standard):

Pedelec is switched on.

  1. The power button lights up depending on the state of charge.
  2. Press and hold the power button.
  3. As soon as the power button lights up orange: Release the power button.
  4. Power button flashes 1x briefly: Standard mode is selected.
  5. After that, the LED lights up depending on the charging status.

Mode 2 (Max):

Pedelec is switched on.

  1. Press and hold the power button again.
  2. As soon as the power button lights up orange: Release the power button.
  3. Power button flashes 2x briefly: Max mode is selected.
  4. After that, the LED lights up depending on the charging status.

The bike always remembers the last selected mode.

Switching the lights on and off

Pedelec is switched on.

  1. Power button lights up depending on the state of charge.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 1 second.
  3. The LED changes from red to green.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. The light switches on.

The bike always retains the last selected setting (light on or off).

Lights-only mode

Setting the light-only mode via the power button is only possible if your bike has the new firmware version, and thus you are able to use the new Ampler app (green icon). Read more about it here. If you try to set the light-only mode with an old firmware version, you run the risk of triggering a factory calibration.

Pedelec is switched off.

  1. Power button is off (not lit).
  2. Press and hold the power button.
  3. The LED lights up green.
  4. The light switches on.
  5. Release the power button.

To switch the motor back on, select assistance mode or switch the Pedelec off and on again. The bike does not retain the setting when you switch it on and off.

You can also toggle all of these settings in the app.
