How do I maintain my bike in winter time?

While our aluminium frame and stainless steel bolts are protected against corrosion, the bike should be cleaned more often when riding through grit and salt-mixtures in winter time, as those can settle especially in the drivetrain and on other components.

  • Take extra care of the chain: clean the whole drivetrain, a degreasing bike spray can help. Lube the chain liberally, let it dry, and then wipe the drivetrain with a cloth to remove excess oil.

  • Make sure to also clean the wheels. Check and clean the steel spokes & brass nipples with water, soap and a cloth.

If you ride year-round, make sure to have an inspection before and especially after winter season. It makes sense to make an appointment ahead in time, as bike shops are very busy once spring starts again.

If you do not ride the e-bike in winter, you should still check & charge the battery every 5-6 weeks.
